Old-Style Yukker Meet....

Hey, it's me....

Some , well, a lot of you, will remember me. It's been a while.

So, how is everyone?

I'm fine. I'm now 38, have a girlfriend who is a student nurse and we're going along just fine. But, you know what? I miss 'us'. I came across an old web archive site of Buffy UK, and I MISS US! The closeness that we used to have back in the Buffy heyday.

So, who's up for one big re-union to catch up and remember the good times? And I'm not talking about a T21 re-union, with all due respect. I'm talking abot a Buffy UK re-union. After all, that's what brought us all together in the first place. Maybe it's the beer talking but I miss those 7, 8, 9 years ago when everything was just about watching Buffy, meets, cons and having fun at Pages. Let's put any differences we've all had in the past and get together for one last hurrah. After all, life is short. And, yes, I know this should prolly be in Meets but we all know people read General Chat more

What do you say? Who's up for it? If people are interested, we can arrange something soon and have some fun again!

Well, I'm certainly interested, and if it goes ahead I'll be there. I think it'll be hard though, there have been people who have fallen out with others over the years, which I still think would prevent some people turning up. If we did properly get the ball rolling though and got a few oldies interested, I think it may work, but its not gonna be easy and will involve everyone who still does read this forum to make an effort.

I'd be up for this. A lot of people are still in touch via journals/ Facebook etc (more than here) so I doubt it would be too difficult to round up the troops. It would be great to sort something out and have the old fights of I'm not going to a meet there etc

For the record I'm not going further north than Birmingham, lol.

I've lost your email address sweetheart... i was just thinking about you. Here's a thing...i turned 40 last weekend...40!!!! it was nine years ago that i registered with BuffyUK and its incarnations...i'm with you, i miss that togetherness we had back then, i've never ever seen it replicated.

Sounds like a mighty fine idea, Whistler me old chum.

Like many, I have had to succumb to the onset of old age. I know that DM reached the 4-0 milestone last year and Keeny has beaten me too it as well, it would seem

I'll be crossing that line at the end of July.

For me it's the all-encompassing job which keeps me away. Certainly can't complain during these times but I still find myself whizzing around the country and so generally yearn for nothing more exciting than prolonged sitting down in front of the telly during the weekends. Based on the amount of time I spend in the place, anyone wanting to track me down should go to Stansted airport at 6am on a Monday morning - chances are I'll be there.

Despite the lifestyle change (part choice, part enforced by medication) which means that I've barely had a sniff of a drink in the past 18 months, I'd certainly be up for a get-together.

I dont come on here often too and people may or may not remember me, but every now and then i think about the old days of Buffyuk where just used to descend somewhere, I'd like to see the old gang as I havent kept in touch with anyone from back in the day which is my bad.

Hiya,

Ok this is kinda weird guys. I hope some of you remember me, I was Simpleton back on BuffyUK.org many, many years ago. What with one thing and another I drifted away from the scene. Then tonight I had a sudden rush to watch Bufty (

) again and got me to realise how much I love the show in so many ways!

So the natural thing to do was to search out the scene that was so much part of my life a decade ago and I'm find myself back here. Especially back here in a topic by my old mate Whistler!

Like I say, this is kinda strange but also very nice at the same time.

Not wanting to sound like I'm butting in at a social get together but what's the happening around here?

I notice that Franz's message is from April, are people still interested? I'd be well up for a Yukker meet up somewhere around the country, eh it's kind of funny how much we all used to travel for BuffyUK meets so another for old time's sake would be grand!

Right, so whats happening with this? I think we should set a date, get in contact with as many oldies as we can, inform them of the details, and then hopefully a good few people will turn up.

Right know that no one comes on here anymore and this site has been pretty much dead for the last year or two, however I agree with Whistlers first post that we should have a reunion of some sort. I don't imagine it being a huge one, but it'd just be good to see some old faces and catch up with each other. I think maybe February next year would be a good time to do some sort of meet up, but probably the best place to organise this would be facebook nowadays and word of mouth. If anyone does wanna reply this with some imput (I won't hold my breath as I bet no ones even gonna read this) that'd be fantastic.

Right hi everyone. I've been thinking about doing this for ages (well for the last few years but it's been a difficult few) and I'm pretty sure I can sort something out in the coming months but I really need to know what people want to do and whether you want to attempt a proper T21 party again?

Also given the amount of London/Cambridge based peeps I think it's going to best to concentrate around this radius.

Although there are two further options of nights out that can be done in parallel. I'm interested in going to Eddie's in Birmingham or Rock City in Nottingham sometime - so who's interested in either of these in addition or instead of something more like a pub or function meet?

All thoughts will be considered. Group discussions and ideas very welcome
