Dr Janet Fraiser looked into the engine compartment of what had been, ten minutes previously, her smooth running Toyota. Pushing her hair back from her eyes, she swore softly under her breath.

"Dammit Sam, where ARE you..."

Glancing down the darkened street, she suppressed a shiver. This wasn't an area of town she was thrilled to find herself after dark, and not only that, stranded alone. Boarded up deserted buildings lined either side, some in a greater state of disrepair than others. She knew Sam didn't like her driving through this area, but the shortcut shaved about three miles off her journey home from the mountain, so she had deemed it worth the small risk. Until a crunching, grinding noise had been the precursor to her Celica cutting out entirely, and gently rolling to a silent halt.

"Sam will have a field day with this," the small doctor thought, walking around to the open window of the car and tossing her equally useless cell phone onto the dash. The battery had finally given up the ghost as she called Sam to come pick her up, though fortunately she'd managed to get her location across before it died completely. The petite brunette returned to the front of the car and peered into the engine, then chuckled softly. "Yeah Janet, cause giving it the old Fraiser stare is REALLY gonna work... that only works on marines." She poked around a little more, then straightened up- it was ironic, she could repair the most complex machine in the world, the human body, but a simple collection of metal parts had her totally bamboozled.

She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to keep warm. She was about to give up entirely and just sit in the car when she caught the smell of cheap tabacco wafting to her nostrils and heard someone roughly clearing their throat behind her. Spinning around, she saw two scruffily dressed men grinning at her. The first moved closer, and Janet took an involuntary step back. He was around 6'2", with greasy, mousy hair hanging over his collar and a couple of days worth of stubble covering his lower jaw. The scruffy denims he was wearing looked like they hadn't been washed in a month, and his companion didn't look much better, a threadbare flannel shirt hanging open over a grease stained T-shirt, and a gaping hole in the knee of his pants.

"Oh crap...." though Janet, mentally judging how much time it would take her to get into the car, lock the door, and close the window. Too long, she decided. She would just have to try and stall them until her tall blonde lover appeared. She couldn't be far away, after all it was only a couple of miles from the house they now shared, Sam having given up her house on the pretense that she was hardly ever there, and wanted to spend more time with Cassie when she was on earth. As far as anyone else at the base knew, Sam had simply moved into the guest room, and was helping out with both Cassie and the rent.

The first man stopped, leering at her.
"Well now, whadda we got here?" he grinned, removing the foul smelling cigarette from his mouth. "Ain't often we see chicks as purdy as this down these parts."
"You in need of assistin', honey?" said his friend, putting an extremely crude spin on the phrase and waggling his eyebrows suggestively. The second man was shorter, with dark hair flopping over his eyes, and a ragged moustache drooping over his top lip.
"Okay," thought Fraiser, starting to feel the beginnings of real fear, "Just need to keep them talking till Sam gets here, I can do this."
"I'm fine," she said with a confident tone that she certainly wasn't feeling, "A friend will be here any minute to pick me up."

The first man grinned and looked deliberately up and down the deserted street. "Don't look like there's anybody here but us..." he said, transferring his gaze and slowly looking the diminutive doctor up and down. Janet's skin crawled as she felt him mentally undressing her.
The second man had moved around until the two had her effectively surrounded. Janet decided she would just have to try and make a break for it, she knew the direction Sam would be coming from, and she was increasingly realising that the two men obviously had less than tasteful intentions. She tensed, getting herself ready to run.

"There they are now!" she said, looking past them down the street. Both mens heads snapped around, and Janet took advantage of their momentary distraction, scooting out between them and taking off in the opposite direction. She put her head down and accelerated, silently thankful that she hadn't changed out of the sweats she'd been wearing to the base gym. She pelted down the street, her heart hammering harder in her chest as she heard the two mens heavy footfalls begin pursuing her.

"God, please Sam, get here now!!" she thought as she barreled down the sidewalk."Pleasepleaseplease.."

She thought she'd gotten clear until she felt a meaty hand grab her shoulder and roughly drag her to a halt. She swung wildly at his head, bringing the hand to hand lessons she'd had with Teal'c into full play. He grunted as her shot hit home, then snagged her wrist with his free hand.
"Now, we ain't gonna have any of that." he brought his face close to Janet's, and her stomach churned in a combination of fear and disgust at the fetid breath against her face. She was still struggling wildly, and had just dragged in a shuddering breath to scream for help when she felt something cold, sharp and metallic press into her neck. The first man's eyes bored menacingly into her own, and the petite brunette felt her blood freeze. He dragged her back up the street, his companion following. They spied an alleyway just beyond Janet's broken down car, and started to tow her toward it.
"NO!" Janet screamed, renewing her struggles. "I'm not going down there!!" She froze as the knife pressed harder into her neck, drawing blood. She could feel the warm liquid running down to soak into her shirt.
"You better hush up, sweet cheeks- we can have our fun whether you're awake or not," growled the second man, backhanding her across the face. She staggered, and they dragged her into the alley in her dazed state.
"Let's have us some fun," he grinned.

Sam Carter flipped open her cellphone as she rode her powerful Indian motorcycle through Colorado Springs' deserted streets. Her Volvo was in the shop having a scratch rubbed out, so she was going to need help to tow Janets car back to her house. "But who?" she thought. "The Colonel's away fishing, Daniel's in New York for some symposium on Mayan culture, and Teal'c doesn't drive."

She pulled in to the side of the road and sorted through the numbers stored in the cell's memory. She grinned as the next number flashed up. "Max and her team are on downtime. Which usually means they'll be in O'Malley's- and Dinger always drives down there!"
The British SAS team had joined the SGC a few months previously, but Sam had known Siobahn Lomax for a very long time. The Scottish Major had led the team that extracted her after her plane was shot down in the gulf, and both had been injured. They had become friends, but had lost touch until a Goa'uld problem in southern Scotland had thrown them back together. SG-22 had been assigned after the UK operation as a permanent addition to the command.
Pushing the "call" button, she put the phone to her ear. She then yanked it away with a yelp as it connected and a blast of loud dance music assaulted her eardrums. She could hear an irate Scottish accent berating her teammate as she gingerly brought the phone back up to her abused ear.

"For fuck's sake Dinger, turn that bloody racket down!"
"YOU WHAT?"
"TURN THAT BLOODY NOISE DOON YA TUBE!"
"OH......"
The music was abruptly muted. Max glared at her 2IC, and returned her attention to the cellphone in her hand. Seeing Carter's name displayed, she grinned.
"Evenin' Sam, what can I do you for?" said the dark haired Scot cheerfully.
"I need a favour, actually" said Sam, starting up her bike again, and resuming her course.
"What sort of favour?" asked Max, shooting a look at Dinger as his hand strayed back toward the volume control. "Don't you dare."
"Don't I dare what?" asked Sam, confused.
"Sorry, not you... I was talking to Dinger." Max shot another glare at the big man in the driver's seat. "So what's the favour?"
"Okay," said Sam, "Are you guys in Dinger's Landrover?"
"Aye, we are," grinned Max. "You know it's impossible to seperate him from his Defender when we're not offworld- they're surgically fused," she finished with a chuckle.
"Good, could you meet me at twenty seventh and forth? Janets car has broken down, and I need someone to tow it- I don't have my car tonight."
"Uh, yeah, no probs," The Scot frowned. "We don't have a tow rope, though."
"That's okay," said Sam, "There's one in the car."
"No worries then, we're not far away- see you in five."

"Thanks, see you soon," said Sam, before shutting off her phone and shoving into the pocket of her jacket, just as she turned into the street in question. As she drew near, her instincts began to twang. On a hunch, she shut off the bike, and coasted to a halt fifty yards away. The car had a distinctly abandoned feel to it, and she couldn't see Janet anywhere. She peered into the car, and it was empty. Her instincts were now screaming at her, a sick feeling settling into the pit of her stomach. Something was DEFINATELY not right.

Kicking out the stand on her bike, she got off, and was about to walk over to the car when she heard the roar of a diesel engine heading down the street. She turned, and seeing Dinger's Defender, made a quick hand signal. The big man understood and instantly killed the lights and engine, letting the jeep coast to a stop just behind Sam's bike. Max and Dinger jumped out, and Sam went over.
"What's up?" asked Max, curiously.
"Something's not right- do you have any weapons with you?"
Dinger snorted softly. "Is the pope catholic?" he muttered before opening the rear door. "No guns, but got a couple of triple A's along."
"Triple A's?" asked Sam.
"Arsehole Attitude Adjusters... also known as pick axe handles."
Max accepted one, and Sam took the other, Dinger muttering that he was "Pretty good without one, anyway,"

The three padded silently over to the abandoned car, Sam's unease growing every second. She was about to call out Janet's name when she heard what sounded like a whimper come from the alley. The tall blonde scooted over to the alley, just staying out of sight to anyone inside it. She saw Max whisper something to Dinger, and the big NCO jogged off down the next alleyway. Max moved over soundlessly to join Sam.
"Where's he going?" whispered the blonde Major.
"Sent him to circle round the back- judging by the stuff on the pavement, somebody got dragged in there not long ago," answered the shorter Scot, gesturing at the garbage strewn around. "Going to give him another thirty seconds, he'll be ready to go then."
Sam nodded, becoming increasingly certain that something *awful* was happening to the love of her life. If anything happened to her she'd never be able to forgive herself.... Sam clamped down on the thought, thinking that way wasn't going to help right now.
Max caught her gaze, somehow knowing what was running through Sam's head.
"She's going to be fine." Max stated quietly, with far more assurance than she was actually feeling. "You ready?"
Sam took a deep breath, and nodded. "On my count..."
Max tensed, readying herself.
Sam counted down under her breath. "Three, two, one, GO!"

The two officers exploded into action, each taking one side of the alley. As they approached, they saw Dinger moving stealthily from the other direction. A scruffy moustached face turned toward the two female officers.
"Hey Joe," he poked his companion to get his attention. The mousy haired thug looked up from the shaking form below him. He hadn't had a chance to do much other than subdue her, and wasn't happy with the interruption.
"You deal with 'em, Hal, or you scared to take on a couple of chicks?"
Sam's blood boiled as she recognised the sneakers jutting out from behind the dumpster. "Get away from her," snarled the blonde.
Hal's moustached lip curled into a sneer. "What you gonna do about it, blondie? Just walk away, and we'll leave you two alone."
Sam shifted slightly, so that the orange light from the streetlamp illuminated the sturdy wooden pick helve she was carrying. Max slowly edged closer, the light hitting her, too.

Joe glanced round, and saw they had miscalculated. The two "chicks" were obviously more than they seemed. Time for a quick exit, but he needed to buy himself some space. Dragging Janet to her feet and holding her in front of him, he pressed the knife to her neck again, the orange light flickering from the blade.
"Back off, or I slit her from ear to ear," he spat, slowly moving back. Max grabbed Sam's arm as she went to dive forward. Hal was moving back too, staying a little in front of Joe. Both men's attention was so firmly on Sam and Max, that Joe never saw what hit him as a piece of two by four crashed across the back of his skull. He staggered, losing his grip on the petite brunette. Dinger shoved Janet behind him, and both Max and Sam took advantage of the opening, Max grabbing Joe and quickly disarming him, then shoving him facefist into the filthy asphalt of the alley.

Sam circled Hal, and she was incandescently angry. This SCUMBAG had hurt Janet, and she was going to make him pay for it. A quick glance assured her that Janet was safe with Dinger, so she focused her attention solely on the blade that had appeared in Hal's hand.
"Don't make me carve you up, bitch," he snarled.
Sam darted in, bringing the pick helve around in a tight arc which ended with the wood impacting and shattering the wrist holding the knife, which dropped with a metallic tinkle to the ground as Hal screamed and staggered back clutching the injured limb. Sam spun and landed a solid kick to his midsection, sending him flying into the garbage. Her mind was ablaze as she stalked toward him, and she drew back her fist before landing a crashing blow to his jaw, and was about to land another when she heard Max yell.

"SAM! He's down- let Dinger keep hold of him!"
The blonde Major turned and Dinger leapt in front of her, grabbing and twisting Hal's injured arm. The thug howled in pain, but the big man didn't loosen his grip. Sam turned and sprinted over to where Janet was sitting huddled against the wall. She drew in a hissing breath as she saw the damage- a bruise was purpling across her Janet's jaw, and her left eye had a nasty looking lump swelling above it. Sam dropped to her knees and gathered Janet into a crushing hug.

"Are you okay? Did they-"
Janet cut her off. "Thank god you got here in time with the cavalry," she said, burrowing her head into Sam's shoulder. "They almost-" the little brunette's voice shuddered into a sob.
Sam gently ran her hand through Janet's hair. "Shhh, it's okay, you're safe now."
Still cradling Janet's shaking body in her arms, she twisted her head round to see that Dinger and Max had immobilised the two would-be rapists with plastic cable ties, and Dinger was talking to the police on his cellphone.
Max walked over to the other two women, and crouched down.
"You okay, doc?"
Janet nodded, her face still hidden by Sam's shoulder. Dinger shut off his phone, and looked across.
"The police are going to sort a tow truck to take you car to your house, Doc, right after they've chucked these two in a nice dark cell."
"Sam, give me the keys to your bike," said Max.
"Why? I don't-"
"She needs you right now," said Max, glancing down at Janet. "Dinger can ride the bike back, and I'll drive the jeep."
"Thanks," said Sam, tightening her grip around Janet.

It was around an hour later when they finally arrived at the Fraiser house. Sam and Janet got out of the back of the Defender, Sam opening the garage so Dinger could put the bike inside when he caught up- they'd left the big man to finish up the police report. Sam went back to the rear of the jeep, and together with Max, helped Janet into the house, installing her on the sofa, and Sam wrapping a warm blanket around her.
Sam walked Max back to the hallway, just as Dinger rode Sam's bike up the street and into the garage.
"Right, we'll be off- you guys going to be okay?" asked Max, one hand already on the door.
"Yeah, we'll be fine- thanks for tonight," said Sam, smiling at the Scot.
"Anytime." she looked Sam in the eye, and smiled. "You two make a great couple, you know?"
Sam's face flamed. "But.. she's not- I mean, we're not- it's not like-"
Max chuckled. "Don't come it. You got no worries Sam, nobody else has a clue. I wasn't even certain until I saw you two together tonight- I don't think I've ever seen anybody so scared for someone else."
"You won't say anything? What about Dinger?" A thousand thoughts were now flying through Sam's head, about how they'd take Cassie away if they were found out, how their careers would be affected....

"Sam, chill. Dinger is clueless, about that sort of stuff, anyway. Us Brits are a lot more accepting of that, anyhow. Our forces don't get persecuted for it anymore." Max chuckled softly. "My other half is called Megan, if that makes you feel any better- she's still in the UK. Why else do you think I always head back over there when we have extended downtime? It's certainly not for the weather."
Sam nodded, relieved.
"Right, we'll be off, tell the Doc I hope she feels better soon... see you next week."
"Goodnight, and thanks again."
"No probs,"said Max, opening the door, and jumping into the waiting jeep. The two British soldiers roared off back to the mountain, and Sam gently closed the front door, locked it, and walked back through to the lounge, thanking whatever deity that was listening for the fact that Cassie was sleeping over at a friend's house.

Sam stopped and looked down at Janet. The little brunette was drowsing fitfully, obviously exhausted by the night's horrors. Sam eased herself gently down beside her lover, and Janet snuggled in beside her. Gazing down at her, Sam tenderly brushed her fingers across her beloved's forehead, gently smoothing her bangs away from her face.
"God, if we'd been just a few minutes later....." she whispered, just as Janets eyes opened.
"But you weren't..." Janet whispered back, one hand reaching up to clasp the back of Sam's neck, pulling her down until their lips met in a tender kiss, that deepened quickly, going from tentative to all out passionate. Sam was holding back a little, afraid she'd hurt her, but when they broke for air, brown eyes bored into blue.
"Upstairs. Now." said Janet.
"Are you sure? You got hurt..." said Sam, running a loving thumb down Janet's face.
"I need you now, Sam, I need to prove I'm still alive, that they didn't-"
Sam cut her off with another kiss. She understood completely- after an experience like that, Janet needed to feel safe, secure, and above all, loved. She gathered Janet into her arms, and carried her up the stairs, their kisses becoming wilder as they went. Sam didn't know how they'd made it without falling as she shouldered open the bedroom door, and deposited Janet gently on the kingsize bad they shared.

Sam lay down beside Janet, and as they reconnected for another kiss Janet pushed Sam's shirt up from her abdomen, her fingers searing a trail across Sam's stomach. She gently pushed her tongue into Sam's mouth, massaging Sam's tongue with her own, while her hands began divesting Sam of her jeans. In what seemed no time at all, the floor around the bed was strewn with discarded clothing, and the two lovers entwined in the moonlight filtering in through the window. Sam kissed down Janet's neck and down the centre of her chest, before ducking her head sideways to take an erect nipple in her mouth. She sucked gently at it, before gently nipping it with her teeth. Fingers tangled themselves into blonde hair, as Sam carried on her journey, mapping her voyage down Janets body with featherlight kisses. She swirled her tongue into the petite bruntte's navel, feeling her lover's body shudder as waves of arousal coursed through her. Moving lower, she inhaled the scent of her, and took her first taste, carressing Janet's most intimate flesh with her tongue, before moving back to the little nub she knew was going to send her lover into orbit. As she worked the tiny sensitive nerve bundle, Janet's back arched, and she gasped.
"Please Sam, inside, NOW!"

Sam happily obliged, sliding first one finger, then two, into her lover's dripping core. She started thrusting slowly, steadily increasing the pace. She could feel Janet shuddering, and knew she was close. Glancing up, she saw that the brown eyes she loved so much were squeezed tightly shut, the brunette's breathing coming in short gasps. Sam grinned, before latching onto the little nubbin, and sucking hard. That tipped Janet over the edge, and she screamed out Sam's name as the searing electricity of her orgasm ripped through her, velvety walls clasping Sam's fingers spasmodically. Sam gently withdrew her fingers, which was enough to send another, albeit gentler orgasm burning through Janet. She crawled back up Janets body, wrapping her arms around her and pulling her into a strong embrace as the aftershocks juddered through her.

Janet slowly came back to herself and opened her eyes, to see Sam's startlingly blue eyes gazing into her own. The beautiful blonde dipped her head, and the two shared another passionate kiss, Janet tasting herself on Sam's tongue. They only broke off when oxygen became an issue, and Janet held the blonde's gaze.
"You have no idea how much I love you."
"I have, you know, I'm guessing it's as much as I love you." Sam replied, tightening her embrace.
"Thank god you were there-"
"I'll always be there. If you need me, I'm there." said Sam, before gently kissing the bruised flesh above Janet's eye.
"My turn," said Janet, pushing the tall blonde onto her back, and running her hand over Sam's stomach.

They spent the rest of the night reaffirming the love they shared, and reminding one another just how precious life, and love, really are.........
