G-Party Room Info - Important - Block Booking Cancelled
Right, I got the T&Cs of the group booking tonight and they aren't good. I've tried to call them to reason with them, but they are having none of it. With that fact that this is the only real local, affordable hotel, I don't think there is any choice but to go with it. The terms are as follows...
1. All unused rooms (Or rooms you don't think you will need for a certain night) MUST be cancelled 120 days prior to the event (In this case that makes it 29th November) other wise there are cancellation fees getting higher the longer it is left. The minimum cancellation fee is 25% of the room cost).
2. A 50% deposit MUST be paid 28 days prior to the actual event (Making that the 2nd March) with the other 50% due no later than 7 days prior to the event (24th March).
They've got us by the balls on this as it is right in front of me in black and white. I'm sorry folks, but the ball is in your court. You can call them up and sort it yourself if you like by paying etc.. But if you want me to handle it, I'm gonna have to ask for the deposit up front to pay the hotel.
As it stands, the rooms I have booked (A total of 15 rooms for both nights coming to a total of £1678.50) must have a 50% deposit paid a month in advance (£839.25, that is if all rooms are filled for both nights of course). They've got my debit card on this booking also, so you can understand I don't fancy that wad coming out of my account
As per, feel free to e-mail/call/whatever if you have any questions.
For info, the block booking has now been cancelled

Yvonne I was nothing more than an almost innocent bystander.
It is with regret that I must advise you all that to avoid a *high* possibility of some sorta shit hitting the fan, I'm going to cancel the block booking entirely next week.
This is primarily through to the hotels crazy ass T&Cs. A copy of the worst offenders you can see on my journal and the thread in the meets forum on T21.
What I *would* advise is that if you require a room, that you book it yourself, hence requiring no deposit at all (To the best of my knowledge) and payment would be on the day. As it stands at the moment, they want all unused rooms cancelled by 28th November, and if you cancel after that there is a charge (Anywhere upward of 25%). They also want 50% of the room money a month before the party, and the other 50% the week before the party.
I begged and pleaded but they were having none of it. If there was anything else I could do, I most certainly would.
If you need me, you know where to find me.

Rally We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true.
I've made my independent booking for Friday & Saturday. Sorted.
Sydney You can lead the whore to culture but you can't make her think!
