Well we haven't had a second post for years, so we wouldn't see much difference anyway!
Who needs a second postal delivery anyway?
I'm doing a bit of work for them at the moment, so I'd best be careful what I say
In the Adeptorial it says:
And on a completely different note …In this age of email it’s not surprising that snail mail might be suffering from a little competition, but despite laying off workers left right and centre and losing money like mad, Consignia, (aka the post office) has just had a 10% pay rise approved for it’s boss by the Government. What say you on this subject?
Let's just say that when you're on the inside, there seems to be remarkably little concern about the financial situation and a very large number of expensive consultants (of whom I'm probably the cheapest... )

Im lucky if I get my first post by midday and I live 20 mins from the main sorting office in my area
Never had a second post either
well i had a first class letter take 6 days to get to its destination the other day! (4 working days) it kinda annoyed me as they were train tickets, I ended up forking out 20 quid for some more
Same here except I live 5 mins away

I don't feel that we would benefit from having the Royal Mail demonopolised, although it is clear both from the inadequate service point of view and the fact that they are making huge financial losses that something needs to be done to sort out their operations!
Can I just point out that Royal Mail (who deliver the post) and Consignia (formerly Post Office Counters, who sell the stamps) are two different entities... it's not Consignia's fault if the mail is late.
They're both still **** though

Not quite true Vix (incidentally, why did you stop being Wicked? )
Consignia is the new parent company for the Royal Mail, Post Office Counters and ParcelForce. I should know, I've sat through far, FAR too many brand management meetings where men in suits from the three legacy companies try to stop their identity being swallowed up by the new brand.
And if you look at the site I'm working on, www.consignia-online.com, you'll see all three logos - all subservient to the new one.
The logic as I understand it is that 'Post Office' wasn't a name that could be trademarked in other countries and if the new company wanted to be an international player it needed a new, unique name.
Trouble is, I can't shift those 1980s men's toiletries adverts from my head now - 'Insignia's got everything, shampoo to shower gel / deodorant and aftershave, for one all-over smell / use newwwwww Insignia, and it's all over now.'

I think the postal system sucks..... we rarely get a second post these days, first class post can take 2-3 days and the first post can arrive anytime between 9.00am and Noon.
Ho hum......
Ho hum......
I don't actually know anyone who can write anymore (everyone types) so I don't get letters apart from the 'have this credit card' ones...
And Random, I'll never stop being wicked....

I guess I really should actually start sending letters again to receive them though.
Can't say I have ever had any problems with first class deliveries. In fact, I'm usually surprised by the speed that they get to their destination in.
Anyway, to throw in my threpenny bit, the last thing this country needs is a privatised postal service. The consumer will not be the one to gain, especially anyone who doesn't live in a major conurbation. It seems that Labour are determined to do to the Post and the Tubes that the Tories so famously did to Rail and the NHS. I'm done with apologising for these would be Tories. Which leaves me with the sad future of having to vote for someone other than Labour for the first time in my life at a general election.
