yeah a mate of my dads did this and he needed like a week or 2 off work afterwards its very painful and you need time to recover. anyway i'm gonna go tot hat site and register as a blood doner i think.

become a bone marrow donor as I'm sure I read that they are even rarer than blood doners because it is so painful...something I'll need to look into

I'm a blood donor although I haven't given any for a while, so this thread has pushed me in the right direction really
), but dropped off the list due to a combination of things: I was never in a convenient location when I worked in Bristol (nearest place was a mile from work, which meant it wasn't exactly lunchtime material); I developed Reynaud's Syndrome, which means taking medicine over the winter which bans me from donating then; and I had a series of summers on anti-biotics (another no-no)!

I pass out every time a syringe comes near me - being pregnant with Georgia meant I had to have regular blood tests - which meant regular passing out - which meant lots of TLC afterwards
The staff at the local hospital always put me on a bed rather than a chair when I went in so that I would be comfortable when the inevitable happened.
For that reason and my intense fear of needles, alas I don't give blood - I wish I could get over the phobia so that I could - we need more doners.
But i've been severely needle phobic since childhood.. having Hannah, they'd taken so much blood from me that my veins were on the verge of clapping out and wanted to take a sample from my foot!
You can imagine my reply to that
